Lorraine Sheppard

Professor Lorraine Sheppard is an experienced Non-Executive Director (NED) and Chair in clinical governance across several industry bodies and the not-for-profit sector.

She’s currently NED across aged (Alwyndor Management Committee South Australia), and community organisations (Royal Flying Doctor Service finance committee) and actively involved in health professional regulation through Chairing accreditation authorities of  the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council. 

With a long-term interest in health and community services, she has successfully led, developed and implemented accredited aged care and primary care both nationally and internationally.
Motivated by a desire to see lives transformed by improving health systems, she has conducted research that generates evidence-based policy and programs to determine how health and disability services can be improved.

Skilled as an accreditation expert, Professor Sheppard has led innovation and quality processes with system changes in highly regulated industries (health, aviation and education). She is accomplished in the design, application and evaluation of clinical governance activities which are informed by her studies in clinical effectiveness at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Through her leadership and service delivery in allied health, clinical and aged care services, Professor Sheppard is familiar with the changing nature of aged care, government reforms and responding to the needs of people who seek care.
