The Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) service is funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and can offer a range of supports for children (aged 0-9 years) with developmental delay or disability and their families.

The types of supports that can be provided through ECEI include:

  • Information
  • Referral to mainstream or community services
  • Looking at what is needed to achieve the goals set by parents and their children
  • Short term help to make sure kids are doing well in their early education setting
  • Where required, assistance to access funded support through the NDIS

The service can work with children aged 0 to 6 years who live in Logan City LGA, Redlands LGA, Brisbane LGA, or Moreton Bay LGA AND have a disability or a developmental delay which is the result of an impairment and causes substantial functional limitations.

Our service will be rolled out in the Moreton Bay region on the 1st of January, 2019.

ECEI gets ready to roll at The Benevolent Society

We are currently working to recruit teams of Child Development Specialists and allied health professionals who will become the key workers for the ECEI service. We're taking the time to make sure we secure the right people to do this very important work.

At this stage, we anticipate being able to start making contact with families from mid--September to book initial appointments. We appreciate everyone's patience during this establishment phase.

If you or someone you know is interested in working with The Benevolent Society ECEI team please click here for more information.

Child Development Quick Tip

Here is a tip from one of our speech pathologists at our Early Years Centres:

Shared book reading is an incredibly valuable way to develop language for little ones! Here are some things to consider to help maximise the experience.

  • Follow your child's lead and talk about the parts they find interesting. It's okay to skip pages, start again, choose a new book or read the same book over and over!
  • Talk about the pictures, not just the words. Provide opportunities for your child to join in and respond.
  • Ask questions about the story - what could happen next, what would happen if the story was a little different, what they think the main character might be feeling, etc.
  • Above all, have fun with it!
