For carers who are caring for people with an ADHD diagnosis, some behaviors can seem like a wrecking ball or at least a disruption.
When additional needs mean a person cannot sit still, cannot stop interrupting, can’t inhibit their big emotions, and fail to regulate their behaviors, it creates stress and struggle for themselves as well as the people around them.
In “Navigating ADHD for Carers,” Dr Justin Coulson (As known from happy families and parental guidance TV show) will explore up-to-the-minute science on what ADHD is, why it occurs? However most importantly what carers can do to create an environment that feels manageable and balanced in an often-chaotic climate.
Over the course of the online sessions, the following topics will be discussed.
• Explain what ADHD is and is not.
• Unpack why ADHD is so controversial.
• Review science-supported strategies to help carers successfully guide people with an ADHD diagnosis.
• Provide practical solutions and tips to help carers connect and engage with people with an ADHD diagnosis.
