Disability First Aid Training

Providing first aid to a person with disability is an extension of HLTAID003. It equips the carer with the skills and knowledge to modify their approach if required to provide effective first aid to a person with disability, affecting their body systems and/or mobility.

This course provides skills and knowledge to apply modified techniques where the first aid response differs between able-bodied and a person with disability. In addition, it includes the ability to recognise and report that a patient may be severely depressed or suicidal.

The Disability First Aid compliments the General First Aid but takes you one step further in providing you with the skills and knowledge with complex situations, and will give you the confidence and the skills to support someone in a crisis.

We are offering those who do not have their first aid to attend on the first session, to obtain First Aid training. The following date is then for Disability First Aid training. You must have completed or have a current First Aid certificate to complete Disability First Aid.
