At The Benevolent Society, we put people first and work together as one to meet our vision of a just society where all Australians can live their best life.

Since 1813, our history reflects a passion for helping people live life their way.

We are an independent, non-religious service provider which supports people to live life their way.

The work we do

We support Australians by offering integrated support services for children, young people, families, people with disability,  older Australians and carers.

We work across Australia, nationally through virtual service delivery and in person in NSW, VIC, ACT, SA and QLD and we work with thousands of people every day, to help them feel valued, cared for and understood.

In the face of challenging times, we want to reassure you that we are still delivering our services across all disciplines. The safety, health and wellbeing of our people, clients and community is our utmost priority at The Benevolent Society.

Driving social change

We use our practice wisdom to mobilise social movements that advocate for anyone in need, and create social change.

Free legal aid, aged pensions, specialist maternity care and an end to child labour are just some of the changes we helped Australians make.

We will continue to use our expertise and partnerships to grow, influence policy, practice wisdom, create change and leave a positive impact on the lives of our clients and their carers.

Our Acknowledgement of Country

The Benevolent Society acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures, and to Elders past, present and emerging.

Our website features images and voices of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders. Respecting traditional practices, we will remove images or video from the website which may feature deceased individuals as soon as we're notified by the community.
