The Benevolent Society’s Disability Services – Far North Coast are hosting a Disability Interagency meeting on April 10 from 10am-12noon at Lismore Workers Sports Club (202 Oliver Avenue, Goonellabah).

It’s an opportunity for disability service providers in the area to gather, connect and network. This interagency meeting is the first to be held since COVID and the devastating 2022 Northern Rivers floods, which halted regular gatherings.

After their office was lost in the flood aftermath, the local team had to pivot to a community-based service delivery model whereby services are delivered in a client’s natural environment, be it their home, school, day care etc.

Team Leader, Nicole Gallpen, says: “It enables our staff to provide services for our community where and when they need them.”

Nicole, who resides in Goonellabah, has been working in the Far North Coast disability sector for more than 10 years. She joined The Benevolent Society in 2022, first as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, and now as a Team Leader and Clinical Supervisor.

She says: “I’m extremely passionate in ensuring our local community receives the services and support needed to ensure that we can all meet our individual goals,” she says. “My role is to ensure that we as a team at The Benevolent Society add value to the Far North Coast community through the knowledge, capacity and support that we can provide.”

The Benevolent Society’s Allied Health and Disability support team is a growing team of 10 clinicians across the Far North Coast and Gold Coast regions. They offer a range of services including:

  • Occupational Therapy.
  • Speech Therapy.
  • Positive Behaviour Support.
  • NDIS Support Coordination.

The upcoming interagency meeting is an opportunity for local disability service providers to share knowledge, capacity, challenges and programs and work together to support the community.
