How to contact Carer Gateway Services

Carer Gateway offers a national website at www.carergateway.gov.au or you can phone 1800 422 737, Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm.

The Benevolent Society is your chosen Carer Gateway Service Provider in metropolitan Sydney (excluding South Western Sydney and Nepean). When you call the Carer Gateway in the NSW 1 region, the call comes directly to The Benevolent Society. The regions in NSW 1 include Central and Eastern Sydney, Inner West Sydney, Western Sydney and North Sydney.

As of July 1, 2024, The Benevolent Society will be delivering  Carer Gateway services within the Sydney Region, previously this was in partnership with Yourside, who led service delivery in the North of Sydney and surrounding areas. This change is designed to streamline processes and enhance support for carers requiring services.

The Benevolent Society and Yourside are working together to ensure a seamless transition. If you've recently reached out to Carer Gateway about services, a team member will contact you to discuss your needs and provide appropriate support.

Services such as respite and tailored support packages booked by Yourside for after July 1 will continue without interruption. There's no need to reach out to us, as both organizations share the same booking system.

The Benevolent Society is committed to offering peer support, wellbeing events, and support groups across Northern Sydney ,details of which are available on our website. Counselling and coaching services will continue both in-person and online, with efforts to maintain continuity with your current counsellor or coach.

Young Carers

If you are aged up to 25 and are caring for a relative or friend with a disability or illness, Carer Gateway can offer you support at no charge.

Emergency Respite

If you experience an urgent, unplanned event, that temporarily restricts your ability to perform care duties, we can organise emergency respite care for your care recipient.

The Carer Gateway coaching services allow you to explore and move toward personal goals. Choose from self-guided online coaching or work one-on-one with a coach.

The Carer Skills courses provide information, insights and practical tips to help carers develop new understanding and skills important in their caring role.

You can connect with people in similar circumstances and decrease carer strain through connection and sharing experiences through the community forum.

Phone Counselling

Carer Gateway Counselling Service is free for carers. Mon - Fri, from 8am to 6pm, professional counsellors will talk through the concerns you have and how you feel about your carer role.

When you call the Carer Gateway in the NSW 1 region, the call comes directly to The Benevolent Society. The regions in NSW 1 include Central and Eastern Sydney, Inner West Sydney, Western Sydney and North Sydney.

If you are a carer, or someone you know is a carer of an individual who has;

  • A disability; or
  • A life limiting health/medical condition; or
  • A mental illness; or
  • Is frail and aged 

If your referral is urgent, please contact The Carer Gateway on 1800 422 737, otherwise please complete this referral form and our team will contact you within 10 business days.
