Thank you for choosing The Benevolent Society!

You were assessed before 12 September 2024, and you’re already part of The Benevolent family, and we're truly grateful to be supporting you. You’ve got the care, connection, and trusted faces you know — and that’s staying just the way it is.

Here's what will happen on 1 November, 2025

Starting from 1 November 2025, you’ll automatically move into the new Support at Home program.

And because your Home Care Package was approved before 12 September 2024, you’ll receive a few special benefits just for you.

What stays the same

Your home support partner will be in touch to check in and guide you through a simple agreement update to keep everything running smoothly.

  • You will not lose any money.
  • Your services will remain the same.

What happens to your funding

  • Your money (funding) is protected . You'll move to Support at Home with the same level of funding as your current Home Care Package.
  • Any unspent money you have will be transferred with you and can still be used on your services.
  • Your money will be paid quarterly instead of daily, but it will be the same amount overall.
  • You’ll be able to roll over up to $1,000 or 10% of your quarterly budget (whichever is higher) to cover any unexpected extras.
  • Hourly rates will change to include administration and other expenses previously covered under the package management fee.
  • We are 100% not-for-profit which means every dollar we receive goes towards supporting your care.

What this means for you

  • The Home Care Package program ends 31 Oct 2025 and on 1 November 2025, you’ll automatically move to Support at Home.
  • Your money (funding) will now be available as a quarterly budget instead of a daily amount that you can spend across 3 months.
  • Some services may be renamed, but your support stays the same.
  • If you are currently paying an income tested care fee you will change to paying a co-contribution towards services delivered. You will not pay any more than you currently do.
  • Thanks to the “no worse off” promise by the Government, you won’t pay any more than you do now.
