Fantastic news! You've been approved for a Home Care Package. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting for your funding to come through.

How Support at Home works

  • From 1 November 2025, your Home Care Package will automatically change to Support at Home.

  • You might be required to pay a portion of the cost for your care starting from that date. We can help you understand what that means. 

  • We’ll work with you to understand what works for you and your budget.  

  • We’ll support you and explain your options, it’s our job to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.

How your funding works

  • Your money (funding) is protected  - Once you receive your funding, you’ll move to Support at Home with the same level of funding you were approved for under Home Care Packages.
  • Your money will be available as a quarterly budget to be spent on your approved care and services. 
  • Flexibility when you need it - You’ll be able to roll over up to $1,000 or 10% of your quarterly budget (whichever is higher) to cover any unexpected extras. 
  • We are 100% not-for-profit which means every dollar we receive goes towards supporting your care.

What that means is

  • If you were approved before 12 September 2024 you’re covered by the “no worse off” promise, which means you won’t pay more under the new system than you would have before. 

  • If you were approved after 12 September 2024, you’ll still receive the care and support you’ve been approved for, however, you may be asked to contribute to your care. What you pay will depend on the services you use and your financial situation.

  • If you’re waiting on your funding it means you’re in the queue for a Home Care Package. You’ve already been approved but you are waiting for your money to come through. Once that happens, from 1 November 2025, you’ll move straight into Support at Home with the same level of funding you were initially approved for.
