Carers give so much of themselves every day supporting loved ones, often placing their own wellbeing last. To recognise this, Carer Gateway is hosting both a Men’s Breakfast and a Women’s Breakfast, creating welcoming spaces where carers can pause, connect, and feel understood.

These breakfasts are about more than sharing a meal. They’re an opportunity for carers to connect with others who genuinely understand the challenges, responsibilities, and emotional load that can come with caring. When carers feel supported and connected, they are better placed to sustain their caring role and their own wellbeing.

Men’s Breakfast: You are not alone!

The Men’s Breakfast is designed for men who are supporting others and often carry a lot behind the scenes. Over a hot breakfast, carers will take part in open and honest conversations with other men who understand the pressures and responsibilities of caring.

We’re proud to welcome Mark Geyer as a guest speaker. A radio host and former NRL player, Mark will share candid insights on men’s mental health, the challenges men face in opening up, and why staying connected matters.

Also joining the morning is Atilio Brito, founder of Dads Speak. As a father of three, including two sons with special needs, Atilio brings a deeply personal perspective on caregiving and focuses on building genuine mateship among dads.

The morning will also include team trivia with prizes, adding a bit of fun and friendly competition to the conversation.

Women’s Breakfast: A morning just for you!

The Women’s Breakfast offers a nourishing start to the day for women who spend so much of their lives caring for others. Over breakfast, carers will gather for meaningful conversation and connection with women who truly understand the caring journey.

We are thrilled to welcome Jana Pittman as guest speaker. With lived experience as an elite athlete, medical doctor, and mother of six, Jana will share honest reflections on resilience, identity, and the courage it takes to keep going when life demands more than expected. Her story is powerful, relatable, and full of heart.

The morning will also include a short, gentle mindfulness meditation, offering space to pause, breathe, and reset.
