Accessible, high-quality parenting and family support services help give every child the opportunity to grow up safe, connected and supported.

Benevolent’s work in this space has been recognised through a new five-year contract with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to deliver Families Together support in NSW. This reflects our strength and impact supporting children, families and communities across the state.

Families Together works alongside families to reduce the risk of children and young people entering out-of-home care.

Through the program, Benevolent’s teams provide tailored support including case management, safety planning, parent coaching and connection to community services that support family wellbeing and health.

New service areas

The Benevolent Society will deliver Families Together services across NSW, spanning metropolitan, and regional communities - including Sydney, South East Sydney, Northern Sydney, Western Sydney and Blue Mountains, the Illawarra, New England, the Hunter and Central Coast, Southern NSW and Central Western NSW.

“This new contract is a recognition of the deep commitment our teams bring to supporting children and families across NSW,” said Linda Griffiths, Executive Director of Child, Youth and Family at Benevolent.

“We are proud to continue this work and to expand into new communities where we can make a meaningful difference.”

Improving outcomes for children

Benevolent is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people in out-of-home care, including ensuring every child remains safe, supported and connected to family, culture and community.

“Ensuring Aboriginal children remain connected to family, community and culture is essential, and we are proud to play a constructive role in this shift,” added Linda.

“Benevolent supports reforms that prioritise the wellbeing of children, and we believe a strong, collaborative partnership between government and the community sector will be essential to achieving lasting, meaningful change.”

N.B. Benevolent is no longer the Families Together service provider in Orange, Bathurst, Mudgee, and some parts of Sydney.
