The Benevolent Society launch Art of Ageing 2020
Art of Ageing 2020 is a photographic exhibition commissioned by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice that celebrates the value, experience and contribution of older Australians to the community.
Featuring a collection of works by outstanding NSW photographers, the free exhibition challenges outdated perceptions of ageing, with images of older Australians leading extraordinary lives. Let these artists, advocates, athletes, authors, business people, chefs, farmers, instructors, mentors, restorers, students and viticulturists inspire you.
The exhibition comprises works by talented regional photographers Kerri Ambler, Tina Milson, Julie Slavin, Tim White, Trevor Green and Tayla Martin, and was curated by Sue Mitchell.
“We are pleased to be working with the NSW Department of Communities and Justice on this wonderful exhibition, which promises to entertain and inspire, as well as help extinguish negative stereotypes about life as an older person,” said Jo Toohey, CEO, The Benevolent Society.
“All are welcome – we hope to see you there.”
The Benevolent Society provides in-home services to older Australians, helping them to age well, live their best lives and stay in their homes wherever possible.
“Over and above our support services, our organisation advocates strongly for a better life for all Australians,” said Ms Toohey. “This includes spearheading the national EveryAGE Counts advocacy campaign, which tackles ageism and age discrimination against older Australians.”
