NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Three of the key events for 2019 NAIDOC Week that we are proud to be supporting are Burrun Dalai Family Fun Day, Central Coast NAIDOC Community Day and Musgrave Park Family Fun Day.
Themes of Voice. Treaty. Truth.
In 2019, NAIDOC Week - celebrated from 7-14 July - focuses on the themes of Voice. Treaty. Truth. These themes echo the three key elements in the Uluru Statement of the Heart and complement the 2019 United Nations Year of Indigenous Languages.
This year, NAIDOC Week asks Australians to recognise the sovereignty of Australia’s First Nations people. It asks for Australians to honour the voice and wisdom of Aboriginal peoples, and to acknowledge the truth of our shared history so we can work together as a nation for a shared future.
Reconciliation together
Our vision for Reconciliation is to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a respectful and meaningful way that highlights the wisdom, strength and resilience of one of the world’s oldest cultures.
By supporting NAIDOC Week family fun days, we’re inviting Australians from all walks of life to celebrate the rich cultures of Australia’s First Peoples.
Principal Advisor of Indigenous Development – People, Learning and Engagement at TBS, Michael Currie, says everyone is welcome to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to engage with elders and children, sharing culture with community – and our families too!” - Michael Currie
