Children’s Week (October 21-29) is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.
The Benevolent Society’s Early Years Centres will be marking the occasion with a range of activities.
Child & Family Practitioner Christine Harvey, from our Gracemere-Mount Morgan Early Years Place, says: “Our small team will be promoting the importance of play and encouraging parents to share in the joy of play through discussion and activities within playgroup.”
This year’s theme is ‘Children have the right to relax, play and to take part in activities they enjoy’ based on Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
“All children have the right to relax, play and participate in a wide range of activities with inclusivity and equitability,” Christine says. “This means that each individual child has what they need to participate in both play and relaxation.”
Helping children and families
Christine has dual skills in not just supporting children to thrive and grow but the family unit as a whole. She joined The Benevolent Society in April 2022 and loves the variety that comes with her role.
