Bronwyn is a familiar face at The Benevolent Society

She’s celebrating 10 years of service, first with Ageing Disability and Home Care NSW (ADHC) and then as an Admin Assistant for the last 2 years. In those 10 years, Bronwyn has taken on new challenges and been a support for all our office staff. From making sure the offices are stocked with paper, coffee and supplies, to admin projects and managing the mail, she’s an important part of the team.

And the appreciation is mutual, with Bronwyn commenting, “The Benevolent Society is a very, very good place to work, the people are extra nice.”

A new start with Job Support

After a computer course at TAFE, Bronwyn started her career at 18 working for a printing company. And she still loves teaching her mum some of those computer skills.

Bronwyn has Down syndrome, and was supported to find her job with us by Job Support, a disability employment service.

Job Support places and trains people with a disability into secure employment. Once a week, Bronwyn’s support worker Tennille visits the office to catch up and see how the work is going.

Taking on the challenge of change

Bronwyn loves her job, especially meeting lots of new people and making friends. She’s proud to help others and make their job easier with office support.

Like a lot of us, Bronwyn doesn’t like change. It’s tough when things change in the organisation and colleagues and friends move on to different jobs. When disability services moved from ADHC to TBS, it was a challenging time. But she was able to move with her colleagues from ADHC and build new relationships at TBS.

Making a difference everyday

Bronwyn works in the Hurstville office part-time, and makes a big impact on her workmates.

“Bronwyn is an integral part of the Hurstville Admin team,” says Natalie de Leeuw, Manager Administration Support Services.

“She’s passionate about her work and her responsibility of making sure the office is stocked and ready to operate each day. Bronwyn has grown enormously in her role and endured a lot of change. We’re proud to have her as part of our team. Congratulations Bronwyn!”

Living a full life

Away from work, Bronwyn loves photography, film making and making slideshows for her friends. Her photographs have been part of an exhibition in Hazelhurst.

She recently took part in the 11km Sutherland to Surf, which left her sore but proud.
