Our new Carer Gateway page has just launched to make accessing support for carers even better and more user-friendly. Carers can now quickly navigate to the relevant Carer Gateway page for services, easily see and register for upcoming events, as well as get in touch with their relevant service provider, all on the same page.

What is the Carer Gateway?

Launched in 2020, Carer Gateway is a Federal Government program that provides free services and support for carers. A carer is anyone who cares for a family member or friend with disability, medical condition, mental illness or who is frail due to age.

Carer Gateway services are offered by a range of health and carer organisations across Australia to deliver services to carers no matter where they live in Australia.

Who are Carer Gateway service providers?

Each region in Australia has a Carer Gateway service provider who can connect carers seeking support through partner organisations. Support and services can differ based on the area, so speaking to a Carer Gateway service provider familiar with your area means that you’ll be able to access services that are relevant to you and your location.

In NSW, The Benevolent Society is the service provider for Sydney metropolitan as well as northern, eastern and western suburbs. The remaining NSW regions are covered by Wellways Australia, Live Better and Carers NSW. For the most up to date service providers in your area, check the Carer Gateway webpage for a full breakdown per state. Alternatively, the Carer Gateway support number will automatically connect you to your closest service provider based on your location. You can call the support line at 1800 422 737

Our new webpage

The Benevolent Society has recently revamped the Carer Gateway landing page to make it easier than ever to access the services that you require.

A carousel at the top of the webpage cycles through helpful links for carers. This includes our registration page to start your Carer Gateway journey, information for Young Carers and access to Emergency Respite services.

A new redesigned Speciality Services widget now makes it easier to quickly access services that you need on a regular basis. Hovering over each of the tiles will show more information if this is your first time accessing the service.

Registering for events

There is now a new way to sign up to attend Carer Gateway events. Note that to attend a Carer Gateway event, you must be registered with the gateway. Signing up to Carer Gateway is easy with our Referral Form. Simply fill out your details, the details of the person(s) you are caring for and someone from the Carer Gateway team will reach out to discuss your carer needs.

A calendar displays the days and times of upcoming events to help you plan your schedule for any events of interest. Green events are managed by The Benevolent Society while blue events are managed by Your Side. Signing up is easy as adding your details to the form on the event page, which can be accessed by clicking the event of interest. You will then instantly receive an email to confirm your registration.

Note that any events in red are currently full and will not be accepting any further registrations. Events in orange are expressions of interest and upon completion of the registration form, your expression of interest will be recorded and confirmed via an instant email. The provider organising the event will then be contact you at a later stage to advise you further.
