Director of Operations - Child, Youth & Families

About the role:

In this Brisbane-based role which requires frequent travel, you will lead our Child, Youth and Family (CYF) Services across QLD. Working closely with the Executive Director Child and Family Services, you will set and oversee the achievement of client outcomes and targets for employee engagement, financial performance, compliance, and risk management. You will ensure a continuous improvement approach exists within our work creating sustainable outcomes focused services which promotes the safety and wellbeing for our families and communities.

About You:

You are a leader who has a strong presence among your team, who can inspire others and lead a large, high performing and diverse team of professionals supporting children and their families across QLD. As someone who is passionate about advocating for CYF services, you will have the opportunity to influence service delivery and client experience as well as shape the future direction and success of TBS across both your service footprint and the organisation as a whole. You are an influencer and relationship builder who is able to promote TBS’s profile in the sector among community partners (such as ACCO’s and other NFP’s) and with our key funders. Your ability to leverage your strategic relationships will ensure that TBS' services continue to grow across QLD. Your commitment to risk management, data led decision making and systems thinking will ensure improvements in service delivery and quality outcomes for clients.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team of senior leaders, who enjoys working autonomously and with the freedom to be creative about how goals are achieved. It is important that you seek opportunities to work in partnership and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, particularly in relation to delivering the outcomes of TBS’ Transformation Strategy and to promote Diversity & Inclusion including strengthening our connections with first nations communities, employees, and clients. In this role you will lead the growth of the diverse CYF service delivery footprint across the state across key portfolios such as Family Preservation, Child Protection, Domestic & Family Violence, Universal Early Years Places & Early Learning (Long Day Care and Kindergarten) and NDIA Partner in the Community Services (Early Childhood Approach).

What you need to succeed?

You will have a record of accomplishment at a senior management level and: 

  • Demonstrated experience in management of Child & Family/Community Services
  • Drive to innovate and develop agile, client focused service delivery models underpinned by practice excellence
  • Proven ability to build meaningful and productive relationships and collaborations with both internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Demonstrated strategic planning experience, able to develop and implement long distance horizon planning (2 – 3 years) encompassing workforce, partnerships and practice
  • Strong leadership presence and demonstrated ability to set standards and expectations, engage and develop staff in their achievements
  • Strong management skills including financial acumen, troubleshooting, managing multiple deadlines, staff and client conflict resolution, performance management
  • A high-level of integrity, flexible nature to adapt to a constantly changing environment and strong outcomes focus

This is a full time permanent opportunity, with an anticipated start date of 1 July 2023.

Note: it is an expectation of this role that you will have a strong physical presence amongst your team which means frequent travel to the various sites across QLD including Cairns, Rockhampton and across SE QLD.
