Media and Communications Manager

Your new role

As our Media and Communications Manager, you will lead a passionate and energetic team of specialists to drive our organisation’s communications priorities. You will be responsible for strategy development and execution for external, internal and digital communications, and play a key leadership role in our Engagement team.

Duties will include:

  • Providing media strategy and counsel to The Benevolent Society CEO, executive and spokespeople
  • Supporting the Director of Engagement on crisis communications and reputational priorities
  • Providing communications strategy and direction for internal and external stakeholders
  • Overseeing internal and external digital communications (intranet, website and newsletter)
  • Managing three direct reports: Media and Communications Specialist, Internal Communications Specialist, and Digital Specialist

What you need to be successful:

As an experienced Media and Communications Manager, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in media, public relations, communications or related discipline
  • At least 10 years media & communications experience in medium to large organisation
  • Experience in supporting media and communications strategies to achieve positive social change
  • Strong writing skills for different media channels; emphasis on news releases, opinion editorials, social posts and blogs, web copy, scripts
  • A good understanding of digital communication tools/channels with an understanding of contemporary trends in media and implications for practice
