Team Leader- Family Assessment & Therapeutic Life Story Work

Our Fostering Young Lives Program helps families so children can live safely, free from abuse and neglect, and enjoy the best possible start to life. We deliver services to children in Out of Home Care with a focus on achieving the permanency goal that is in their best interests.

Your new role

Your aim is to ensure your team are positioned to provide exceptional services to children and their families to achieve successful restoration or successful placement with kin.

You will provide clear focused leadership, professional supervision and be available to your team. You can leveraging our Practice Support team to ensure your team have the practice capability and cultural awareness to effectively support families. You will partner with DCJ and our Operations teams to facilitate referrals and improve outcomes for children in OOHC.

As part of our Leadership Team, you will have the full support of our Program Manager and a buddy from our peer network of Team Leaders.

Terms: Full time position based in Hurstville, NSW.

What you need to succeed?

As an experienced Social Worker, Coordinator, Team Leader or Manager you will have

  • Track record leading child protection and/or out of home care services to improve client services and outcomes
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application of the SDM Tool utilised for Restoration assessments or experience with other restoration frameworks
  • Knowledge of the Step by Step Assessment Framework utilised for kinship assessments or experience with another kinship assessment framework
  • People leadership experience with the ability to build and develop an engaged, high performing team
  • Good management skills including troubleshooting, managing multiple deadlines and conflict resolution
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving, decision making and manage balancing priorities
  • Working in a collaborative, cross functional way with teams, peers and stakeholders to achieve outcomes
  • A relevant degree qualification and current full driver’s license
