A Place in Your Heart children's book

We welcome a diverse range of foster carers and are a leader in supporting members of the LGBTQI community to become foster carers. To help foster children feel comfortable in diverse families, we produced a beautiful and colourful children’s book called A Place in Your Heart.

Young carers

We provide specialised support to young people who care for a parent or relative with a disability, mental illness or illness.

Mental health

PHaMs

Our Personal Helpers and Mentors programs help people living with mental illness better manage their daily activities and access the support they need to participate fully in the community. We also support families with a child or young person affected by mental illness.

headspace

We provide help for 12-25 year olds struggling with mental health issues through our headspace centre in Liverpool, NSW. The service is free, confidential and friendly and also provides support for family, friends and carers.

headspace Liverpool can help young people looking for health advice, support and information about:

  • Alcohol and other drug services
  • Relationships
  • Education, employment and training services
  • Social Activities
  • School and work hassles
  • Bullying

The Shack

The Shack is based in Maroubra and was established in 1990 to support the wellbeing of young people and their families, particularly those who have experienced issues relating to poverty, isolation and social exclusion.

The Shack offers support services, learning opportunities, life-skills and creative development for children and young people aged 9 to 24.

We provide community care for people with a disability, including help in the home with personal care, housekeeping and laundry, group activities and outings

Child and Family Wellbeing Service - Brisbane North

The Child and Family Wellbeing service is a government funded early intervention and prevention mental health service for children aged between 0-18 and their families.  We offer no-cost professional support to families who are concerned about their child’s social and emotional wellbeing.  The Child and Family Wellbeing Service focuses on providing early support for children and young people experiencing  signs and symptoms of stress, worry or  low mood,  or uncharacteristic behaviour.   

The service  supports families  in the following suburbs: Aspley, Bald Hills, Banyo, Boondall, Bracken Ridge, Brighton, Carseldine, Chermside, Chermside  West,  Deagon, Eagle Farm, Everton Park. Fitzgibbon, Geebung, Gordon Park, Kedron, McDowall, Nundah, Pinkenba, Sandgate, Shorncliffe, Stafford, Taigum, Wavell Heights, Zillmere

The service accepts referrals from professionals, schools, agencies and directly from parents and young people. The service operates between business hours Monday-Friday and is not a crisis service.
